Varieties of Nicorette GumNicorette gum comes in two flavours: classic, which is also known as plain, and mint. You may want to try both flavours and decide which taste you prefer before starting a programme lasting weeks. There is a 30 piece pack available in each flavour so these may be quite useful if you want to try them before committing yourself. The standard pack size in New Zealand is 105 pieces of gum. The gum itself is stored in a foil sealed plastic blister. There are two strengths of Nicorette gum available. The regular strength Nicorette gum is 2 milligrams (mg), meaning that each piece of gum contains 2mg of nicotine. The extra strength Nicorette gum is 4 milligrams. As a generally rule of thumb, the 2mg Nicorette is recommended for those who smoke less than 20 cigarettes a day, while the 4mg gum is more suited to those who smoke more than this. It does depend on the individual to decide what suits them best. If you start using the 2mg Nicorette gum but find that this does not counteract the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal then you should probably switch to the 4mg gum.
